Arsenal FC star Aaron Ramsey tipped to be crowned Footballer of the Year after latest magical display against Cardiff City

Arsene Wenger tipped Welshman Aaron Ramsey to become Footballer of the Year after another master class by the outstanding midfield player from Caerphilly.
Rambo, who came through Cardiff City’s youth development programme before signing for Arsenal in a £5m transfer five years ago, fired two goals against the Bluebirds and didn’t celebrate either of them.
He has netted 15 goals already this season and Wenger said: “I wouldn’t sell him for £50m. If Aaron keeps playing to these levels he will be player of the year.
“He has been outstanding up to this point and there is still time and opportunity for him to develop and improve further
.
“Aaron was happy we won this match and that he played well against Cardiff. He also showed respect for Wales and Cardiff.
“There is also big respect for the Cardiff supporters and we appreciated their reaction to Aaron and their welcome for him. You don’t see that a lot. Players returning to their former clubs are often booed.
“It was fantastic to hear the applause from home fans. A big respect for Cardiff supporters - they are rightly proud to be Welsh.
“Aaron has matured as a person and the fact that he has improved so much as a player shows he is intelligent and highly ambitious. He deserved to be man of the match against Cardiff.

“Let’s not forget that only a year ago everybody seemed to be questioning his future. The way he handled that and has progressed means he deserves credit for turning the corner and there is no question he can continue to improve.
“A few years ago he came to Cardiff in the FA Cup and it was a difficult game for him, He has returned and showed how much he has developed as a player and a person.
“I was a midfield player and would have loved to have the ability Aaron has. He can attack, he can defend and scores goals. I have not seen him score headers of the quality he did for our first goal. What more do you want?
“Aaron is also young. That shows you he can develop still more. Look at his progress over the last two years - why should he stop now? There is a lot more to come and if he continues to play to these levels he has a good future for club and country.”
“We signed him for a good price in 2008, but that has to be put into perspective a little. Transfer fees have gone up.
“The fee was £5m, but we wouldn’t sell him for £50m now, We don’t want to sell any of our top players.”
Arsenal’s win, thanks to Ramsey’s double and a strike by Mathieu Flamini, took them seven points clear at the top, while Olivier Giroud seemed to waste another chance when he hesitated after bursting through with only goalkeeper David Marshall to beat.
Wanger, though, accepted Giroud was offside even though the referee’s assistant at that end did not signal that.
“Giroud said the linesman put his flag up and then down again,” said Wenger. “That’s why he hesitated, but since then it’s clear he was offside because Ozil touched the ball as it went through.”
Arsenal have won 10 of their 13 Premier League matches this season and Wenger was delighted with his team during the win at Cardiff City Stadium.
“We scored three good goals.”
