The Federal Government on Wednesday, December 25, distributed 10,500
bags of assorted fertiliser to 3,500 irrigation farmers in Kware local
government area of Sokoto State.
The ceremony was presided over by Jubril Enesi, the state Director, Federal Ministry of Agriculture.
Enesi, who was represented by Abubakar Mohammed, said the gesture was extended to the beneficiaries under the Growth Enhancement Support scheme of the Federal Government.
Each of the beneficiaries was given two bags of NPK fertiliser, one bag of Urea, a 25kg bag of rice seeds, and two 2-litre cans of agrolyser nutrients.
According to Enesi, the action was aimed at encouraging more Nigerians to engage in all-year round farming activities.
"This is to further guarantee the food security of the country, as the need for food is next to nothing," he added.
The Chairman of the local government, Abubakar Zamau, and the District Head of Kware, Aliyu Abubakar,commended the FG for the gesture.
