Organised labour in Edo State Monday
issued a 28-day ultimatum to Governor Adams Oshiomhole with which to pay
primary schools teachers their outstanding arrears of 10.5 per cent
Teachers Salary Allowance (TSA).
The communiqué, which was signed by the state NLC chairman, Mr. Emma Ademokun and two others, also resolved to put-on- hold; an industrial action scheduled to kick off yesterday.
He explained that the NLC “supports in totality the decision of teachers in Edo State not to be part of government proposed assessment test for the tutors.”
Ademokun, however, assured the workers of government plans to meet the organised labour demand of 53.37per cent salary relativity for workers.
The union said the teachers would be left with no option than to
proceed on indefinite strike if government fails to heed their demands.
This was contained in a communiqué issued by the organised labour,
comprising of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC)
and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC) after an executive meeting in
Benin City yesterday.
