Gumsu is fuming over Soyinka’s refusal to be part of the Centenary
award because he was sharing the Award with the late military dictator,
Gen. Sani Abacha, is an insult.
In a statement entitled ‘The Canonization of Terror,’ Wole Soyinka
said “We are speaking of a man who placed this nation under siege during
an unrelenting reign of terror that is barely different from the
current rampage of Boko Haram. It is this very psychopath that was
recently canonized by the government of Goodluck Jonathan in
commemoration of one hundred years of Nigerian trauma.”
Reacting to the statement,
the first daughter of the late military dictator took to her facebook
page and wrote “Someone tell Soyinka I liked his books when I was
younger but that is where it ends. Today, I reject his stupid, foolish
and insignificant statement.”
